Some Things You Gotta Leave To The Professionals...

Hey Y'all!  Just a quick post...

So for the past several months, I have been protective styling.  Lots of low heat to no heat styles.  This is helpful for me because my life has been really busy and stressful lately and it’s very convenient to shampoo, deep condition, and style my hair in a very low maintenance style.  Plus it’s just way too hot to wear my hair straightened!  I would do all of that work only to sweat it out the same day!!

The thing about bunning your hair and wearing low-to-no heat styles all the time is that it’s hard to tell how bad your ends look.  So I made an appointment to get my ends trimmed since it was WELL OVER the time for me to get them trimmed.  Enter my stylist Tai Crawford:

You see that no nonsense expression on her face?  That's exactly how she looked at me when she saw my ends. Tai has NO QUALMS about telling me how bad my hair is looking lol!  I have known Tai for over 10 years and we always have a lot of fun when I come in. After she shampooed, conditioned, and blow-dried my hair this is what it was looking like:

I know, I know….the SHAME!! Believe me: Tai gave me an earful about how bad my ends were.  I love Tai because she looks at my hair and determines how much needs to be trimmed.  She then SHOWS ME how much she wants to trim and gets my ok before she cuts.  So when she told me that she needed to take off almost two inches I told her to just go ahead so I could get a fresh start.

Now, I know many people trim their hair themselves and have great success with it.  As for me and my hair, we will go to the salon lol.  Although there are many things that I do for myself with my hair I choose to have trims and chemical color (bleaching) done by the professionals.  I know that there is a science behind clipping ends and since I don't know the science I turn my hair over to someone who does lol!

Here’s the dilemma:  It’s super hot outside and I sweat from my scalp….PLUS I have started running and working out so I didn’t want to waste money getting a blow out only to sweat it out the very next day.  Tai gave me a great solution:  I could make an appointment with her and come in with my hair already shampooed and blow dried and she would clip my ends so that I could maintain the health and integrity of my hair during this summer.  Perfect!  So now I will make an appointment every 6 weeks to have my ends trimmed.

Here was my final result after she took nearly two inches off:

So now that I have "fresh ends" I can continue my journey to waist length hair.  My goal is for my hair to be at the middle of my back by my birthday (October 6), pray that I make it lol!  You can follow Tai on Instagram at www.instagram.com/hairbytaicrawford/ or by clicking her picture above.

I'm excitedly working on more collaborations and fun posts for you guys!  Thanks for supporting me and please don't forget to subscribe and comment! How often do you get trims and what (if anything) do you leave to the professionals?
